Biometrics In 3 Steps

Step 1

Send the first 3 pages of your I-589 application and attach a blank copy of the biometrics instructions, find them by clicking here.

Please Note: Biometrics have to be requested through USCIS even though you are applying for asylum through the immigration court.

Step 2

Mail instructions and first three pages of your I-589 application to:

USCIS Nebraska Service Center

Defensive Asylum Application with Immigration Court

P.O. Box 87589

Lincoln, NE 68501-7589

If you have moved, you must send USCIS your new address so they can inform you about your biometrics appointment, to do so you must file a change of address form with USCIS which you can do online. Click here for form AR - 11.

Step 3

Keep proof of mail from DHL/FedEx/UPS. This could be a receipt, printed tracking number, or something that shows proof you sent the documents.

Please keep in mind:

Please remember when you send your asylum application to the court, your biometrics appointment (fingerprint appointment) will not be scheduled automatically, that is why you need to make a separate biometrics appointment request to USCIS.

NOTE: It can take a long time for USCIS to schedule a fingerprinting appointment, and you may or may not get a receipt notice in the mail.
