Medical Emergency (Salle D'Urgence)

If you have a medical emergency, you can go to any public hospital emergency room, in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan and Staten Island.

“Emergency Medicaid” will cover emergencies surgeries, so you won’t have to pay for the surgery itself.

There may still be other fees. Once you are at the hospital, we encourage you to find the office where you can talk to someone about other medical coverage / benefits for you or your children. For example, all children, regardless of your immigration status can have CHP medical coverage.

You may still get a bill from the hospital. If you get a bill and can not afford to pay, you can call them and explain to them that you can’t afford to pay and explain why. This can often help.

If it is NOT an emergency, we suggest you first try a Free Clinic.
